Junior Law Clerk - Tax Downtown Toronto Our client, one of Canada's premier business law firms, located steps from Union Station, is in need of a Junior Law clerk to join its team. This is an exciting new opportunity to join a friendly and highly regarded law firm! In this role you will be trained and supported in developing a proficiency with tax-related aspects of various reorganization plans and tax-related provisions and documents. You will work closely with existing clerks and lawyers in the tax group to assist with the completion of record books, updating minute books and performing other post-transaction/reorganization matters in order to gain such proficiency before taking a more primary role. Responsibilities: Key maintenance tasks and filings, including preparation of report books and maintaining/updating corporation records, registers and ledgers Draft documents to implement incorporations, organizations, amalgamations, annual proceedings, dividends, dissolutions, extra-provincial registrations, limited partnerships and business names Maintain and review corporate records, securities ledgers and registers Conduct corporate searches and analyze filings Liaise with clients and lawyers as needed Maintain corporate information in CorpLink database Produce the highest quality of work Accountable for all work assigned Take initiative Confidential Requirements: A minimum of 2 years' experience as a Corporate Law Clerk Successful completion of a related post-secondary education program in a legal assistant or law clerk program ILCO certification. Experience docketing time Knowledge of Federal and Provincial corporate statutes and corporate procedures Knowledge of Corplink or similar corporate database Skills: MS Office Suite of Applications 2013 Strong verbal and written communication Ability to problem solve, good judgement and decision making skills Strong interpersonal skills Organized, resourceful and detail oriented Salary up to 65k to start plus benefits!
